CONTEMPORARY PHILIPPINE ARTS BY THE REGION

Here you’ll find a selection of my work. Look through the artworks I've made throughout the last year of high school. With culturally inspired works from different regions of the Philippines, find a showcase of different forms of art.

Kalesa
The handmade kalesa, crafted from cardboard, features a hand-painted design inspired by the rich heritage of Vigan City. Accented with woven bags, it captures the cultural essence of Ilocos Sur, showcasing the region’s artistry through the use of native and recycled materials.
Woven Basket with Inabel Weaving
The woven baskets, crafted from paper, feature vibrant patterns inspired by inabel weaving, blending a lively array of colors. Each piece highlights traditional Filipino craftsmanship while embracing sustainable, handmade materials.

Balik Bayan / Junkart
This project features a boat (“bangka”) as a symbol of how water connects Filipinos across islands and continents. Atop the boat are “Balik-Bayan” boxes, representing the deep-rooted Filipino tradition of generosity—bringing home gifts and goods from abroad to share with loved ones. The artwork highlights both cultural connection and the spirit of giving.
A Sky Without Stars, A Sea Without Sand
The painting shown is an improvised artwork inspired by a painting created by Rodel Tapaya. Changes that were made included integrating realism and creating a clear image of the painting.
